Compassionate_Conservative Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Senses Fail Senses Fail is a Ridgewood, New Jersey based band that draws heavily from the punk, emo, screamo, and hardcore genres. Their main influences are Jimmy Eat World, Fairweather, Grade, The Promise Ring, Jawbreaker, Saves the Day,Thursday, and The Get Up Kids. History The history of Senses Fail starts with the lead singer, James "Buddy" Nielsen, posting an advertisement on the Internet a year before the formation of the band, inviting people to jam with him. The current drummer, Dan Trapp, read the article and brought friends Dave Miller and Garrett Zablocki from two bands he had played with previously. Later, the bass player Mike Glita, former drummer for Tokyo Rose joined the lineup. Their first release, on August 16, 2002, was a six-track EP on ECA Records, From the Depths of Dreams. This was re-released on April 29, 2003, on Drive-Thru Records, with two extra tracks. Their first full-length album, Let It Enfold You, was released on September 7, 2004 on Vagrant Records. It was also re-released, with five bonus tracks: three acoustic versions of songs on Let It Enfold You, a new track named American Death and a cover of the song Institutionalized, which was originally by Suicidal Tendencies. In 2005, the band's web site announced the departure, by mutual agreement, of guitarist Dave Miller. He was replaced by Heath Saraceno, previously the guitarist/vocalist of the band Midtown. Subsequent interviews with band members have made it clear that Miller did not leave voluntarily. The band has played on the Warped Tour in 2004-06 and the International Taste of Chaos tour in 2006. In November 2006-February 2007, they did a headlining tour with such bands as Saosin, Alexisonfire and The Sleeping, and recently completed the North American version of the Taste of Chaos Tour that featured such bands as The Used, 30 Seconds To Mars, Saosin, Chiodos, Aiden, and Evaline. They performed in a number of European festivals (as well as a couple of headlining shows) in April 2007, and played a short U.S. tour with From Autumn to Ashes in June. On April 23, 2007, at the Hamburg show, Neilsen announced the band would play the Reading and Leeds Festivals and several German festivals in August 2007. On June 14, 2007, Neilsen announced from the stage that the band would do a Fall 2007 Co-Headlining Tour with New Found Glory. Senses Fail also just completed a tour with the Zumiez Free Couch Tour. The title of the song "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues" is a reference to the title of an episode from the first season of Lost. The song and album "Let It Enfold You" is named after a poem by Charles Bukowski. The song "Institutionalized" featured in the video game Tony Hawk's American Wasteland. It is a cover of the 1983 hit originally sung by Suicidal Tendencies. Contrary to popular belief, the song "Rum is for Drinking, Not For Burning" is not a quote from, or a reference to, the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. A poster of Let It Enfold You's CD cover can be seen in an episode of House and the hit movie Transformers Source: Wikipedia Quote
