Cassi's modeling dilemma

Cassi Van Den Dungen, the "boganista" of Australia's Next Top Model, has everything it takes to be an international runway star — except the right attitude.

Having finished the competition in second place, the lean, leggy beauty has already been offered a contract with prestigious New York modelling agency Elite.

But while it's an opportunity many would kill for, Cassi says she's "in two minds" about whether to take up Elite's offer, saying she would rather settle down in her hometown of Sunbury.

"I'm not confident to go overseas just yet," she says. "Elite is wanting to sign me over in New York — I've got the contracts, but I'm still thinking about it."

Cassi insists she can develop her modelling career from Sunbury, on Melbourne's outskirts.

"I don't live that far from Melbourne city," she explains, "so I can stay living in Sunbury. I don't live that far out. It's my hometown, I've lived there my whole life."

Top Model winner Tahnee Atkinson is stunned at Cassi's reluctance to take the offers she's received.

"Cassi Van Den Dungen happy to step off catwalk

SUNBURY'S self-proclaimed bogan Cassi Van Den Dungen has narrowly missed out on being crowned Australia's Next Top Model.

The 17-year-old school dropout was beaten by Perth's Tahnee Atkinson in the reality television finale last Tuesday.

An unfazed Ms Van Den Dungen told the Telegraph her runner-up status would allow her to do things her way.

"I don't like being told what to do," she said.

"It doesn't matter that I've missed out on the model management contract and the [$20,000] cash.

"My career hasn't stopped.

"I've thought about going back to school.

"Eventually I want to study fashion design."

The outspoken model was adamant about her love for her home town, despite having created a stir when she described it as a ghetto earlier this year.

She slammed Hume Mayor Jack Ogilvie for his criticism of her.

"When I said Sunbury was a ghetto, I meant when people my age go out after 10 at night, it becomes like a ghetto.

"People are drunk, there are drugs and there are always those that start trouble - you have got to stay aware.

"While I was in the show my fiance was at a festival in Sunbury, when a group of 30 teenagers started chasing him around.

"Out of everybody, the mayor should not have said anything. He obviously doesn't go out after 10.

"Sunbury is [my] home town - I will always go back."

Ms Van Den Dungen created more headlines during the show when she was sent to anger management classes, had regular run-ins with other aspiring models and dropped the f-word during a catwalk appearance while the series was being filmed."

AUSTRALIA'S Next Top Model runner-up Cassi Van Den Dungen's dad and former boss are trying to convince her to put a $2 million modelling contract before her bricklayer boyfriend.

A copy of a contract for a lucrative overseas modelling contract has been sitting at Van Den Dungen's father's house for more than a week but remains unsigned.

Van Den Dungen who was tipped to win the Foxtel reality show, has been torn between the love of her boyfriend, 26-year-old apprentice Brad Saul and strutting the international catwalks.

Before appearing on ANTM she worked at La Porchetta in Watergardens Shopping Centre in Sydenham in Melbourne's outer western suburbs for two years.

Her former boss Eric Nania said her father Jack had asked him to talk to Cassi about the modelling offers.

"He thinks she will listen to me,'' he said. "There's a contract for $2 million sitting on his fax machine at home.''

Mr Van Den Dungen said last week that he was not putting any pressure on his glamorous daughter.

"The decision is up to her. I am very proud of what she has done on the show,'' he said.

A production spokesperson told Hush, "I have spoken to Cassi and she told me that, although she might not sign with one of the bigger agencies and instead stay with one in Melbourne, she hasn't turned her back on modelling.''
