ez_c Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 I'm new to the scene and I'm wondering about the proper usage and etiquette for emoticons. For starters, what is the meaning of the ninja smiley? I've seen it used a number of times, but haven't been able to figure out it's meaning based on context. And why is one smiley killing another smiley :magic: considered magic? When would you use the trout? :trout: Quote
OriginalSin Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 i was hoping someone else would answer this coz i dont really have a good answer ok sooo :magic: is called magic coz was considered much too harsh j/k but i think its coz one of the smileys has a wand in his hand haha. :trout: should be used when someone makes a silly mistake... can be used for just about anything i say usually though, when you've said something aloud that perhaps you shouldnt have Quote
ez_c Posted December 19, 2005 Author Posted December 19, 2005 That is one violent fish. Thanks for the input. Quote
Monkey Posted December 19, 2005 Posted December 19, 2005 On most forums the ":ninja:" emoticon is actually ":fear:" so that's how I approach using it. Quote
schadenfreude Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 To me, the Ninja emoticon seems like something that people put in after making an ironic comment. Quote
Francesca Posted December 20, 2005 Posted December 20, 2005 (edited) ^ and then there's this special emoticon exclusively created for me... Edited December 20, 2005 by Francesca Quote

ez_c Posted December 21, 2005 Author Posted December 21, 2005 So doesn't have a single universal meaning? That makes me feel better about not knowing what it is. Is the trout :trout: used under different circumstances than avada :avada: ? Quote

Is the trout :trout: used under different circumstances than avada :avada: ? hmm :avada: seems angrier than :trout: :trout: is would be akin to "silly rabbit tricks are for kids" whereas :avada: is more like "damn you to hell!" or "take that!" this is a fun topic, never really stopped to think what any of these actually mean Edited December 21, 2005 by OriginalSin Quote
avadakedavra Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 I use :avada: when it's like, you want to smack the person. When you're mad and feel like throwing things. Idk if that makes sense Quote
Lullaby Posted December 21, 2005 Posted December 21, 2005 Well I use mine :lullaby: when I just want to pop someone in the face. Quote
Jimmy Changa Posted December 22, 2005 Posted December 22, 2005 Here are the meanings to the following emoticons: :trout: : I think you need a spanking for that comment, but since I have this fish... : Fear me : You hurt my feelings and I don't like you any more...whatever. : You think that's funny? I'll show you funny. :knives: : My name is Nicole and I will cut you. <_< : Yeah, right...I'm watching you. :magic: : Here, let me burst your bubble for you. hehe. Hi. Hope this helps. Quote
