Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington on vocals.

Since I never liked Linkin Park that much, this was a pleasant surprise to me. It absolutely does sound like STP.

This is the proof, I think, that though Scott Weiland was the face of the band, the brains behind Stone Temple Pilots are the DeLeo brothers.

^I haven't heard a great deal of the old stuff but I'm familiar with their signature sound, of course. Judging by this, it's still very much intact.

Yes yes yes yes yes.

Arcade Fire to release new album on October 29

The band announced the release date on Twitter earlier today (July 12) in a pretty unusual fashion - in reply to a fan who had tweeted "you're my favourite" at them. It had previously been reported that the album, the band's follow-up to 2010's 'The Suburbs', would be released on September 9.

Last month (June), former LCD Soundsystem leader James Murphy, who is helping to produce the as-yet-untitled album, gave an update on its progress. "The album is going great. I'm too in the middle of it to know which way it will go in the end. But it's going to be a fantastic record," he told the Daily Star.

Murphy also clarified his contribution to the album, saying: "They are so good they could produce themselves, so my role in the band depends on the song. Sometimes I'm going around making suggestions and playing instruments, other times I'm just helping the arrangements. We feel like part of each other's bands because we toured a lot together over the years."

In an interview with MusicWeek late last year, the band's manager Scott Rodger confirmed that Arcade Fire were going into the studio with Murphy to work on their fourth album. He said at the time: "They're in with James Murphy on three or so songs, plus Markus Dravs who is a long-time collaborator. They write too many songs - that's a good problem to have. There's around 35 songs with Arcade Fire, two albums'-worth for sure."

Magnificent press release from Stiff Records regarding the sales figures for Johnny Borrell's debut album.

Johnny Borrell album sales: 594 and counting...
02 August 2013

Stiff Records is proud to announce first week sales figures for its latest album – Johnny Borrell's 'Borrell 1' – of 594.

'Borrell 1' is the début solo LP from the former Razorlight vocalist and is the first new album on the highly prolific Stiff Records since 2007. That last album was the multi million-selling two-volume set, '30 Years Of Stiff Records' (although admittedly that was a free cover-mount with 'The Independent on Sunday').

"First week sales of 594 makes 'Borrell 1' the 15,678th best selling album of the year to date," comments a Stiff spokesperson. "So far we've achieved 0.00015% sales of Adele's '21' – and 0.03% sales of this week's No. 1 album from Jahmene Douglas – so we feel like it's all to play for as we move into the all-important week two."

“We might even break the Top 100.”

'Borrell 1' is out now on Stiff Records. If they're dead, we'll sign them.
