James Gandolfini has died at age 51

I’ve learned that actor James Gandolfini died suddenly in Italy after a suspected heart attack. He was 51. Gandolfini will be forever known for his portrayal of mob boss Tony Soprano on the seminal HBO series The Sopranos, which won him three Emmy Awards. He remained in business with the pay cable network, starring in film Cinema Verite and executive producing Hemingway & Gellhorn. He was set to topline a new limited series for HBO, Criminal Justice, one of several projects he had in the works. Gandolfini was most recently seen in the features The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Zero Dark Thirty.

The Situation Loses Abercrombie & Fitch Lawsuit Over Trademark Infringement
 

The Situation has lost his battle with Abercrombie & Fitch. As Gossip Cop previously reported, the “Jersey Shore” star (real name: Mike Sorrentino) sued the clothing retailer in November 2011 over shirts that featured the slogans “The Fitchuation” and “GTL Fitch” (“GTL” being the well-known “Jersey Shore” abbreviation for “Gym Tan Laundry”).

The Situation was first enraged when the company publicly asked him and co-stars to stop wearing its clothing, then sent the retailer a cease-and-desist letter demanding that the shirts be pulled from shelves, and alleging that they infringe on his legal copyright and amount to exploitation.

When Abercrombie refused to comply, he filed suit, seeking $4 million in damages. But a judge has ruled that The Situation didn’t trademark the terms in a timely manner, and “did not offer apparel until after A&F introduced its parody T-shirt, and even then only on their website, officialsituation.com.” The judge further ruled that “the court can discern no relationship between the word ‘situation’ and the apparel or entertainment services” provided by the reality star.

In a statement, Abercrombie’s vice president and associate general counsel said, “We believed that the complaint against us was frivolous from the beginning, and we feel fully vindicated by the result. As to the underlying issues, we think that the entire matter is yesterday’s news.”

Glee star Cory Monteith found dead in hotel in Canada

(CNN) -- Cory Monteith, who played heart throb Finn Hudson in the Fox hit "Glee," was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room Saturday, Vancouver police said. He was 31.

Police said the cause of death was not immediately apparent, but they ruled out foul play. Medical examiners will conduct an autopsy on Monday. Monteith's body was discovered Saturday noon by staff members at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel after he missed his checkout time, acting Chief Constable Doug LePard told reporters.

He had checked into his room July 6. The actor apparently had several people over to his room at one point Friday night, but LePard said Monteith was seen on hotel surveillance video returning to his room in the early morning hours by himself.

One of his castmates on "Glee," Mark Salling, tweeted a simple "no" after police held their news conference.

"We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss," his publicist, Melissa Kates, said in an e-mail.

Monteith spent time in rehab early this year, checking into a drug addiction treatment facility in April. He had been frank about his struggles with substance abuse, telling Parade magazine in 2011 that he began using drugs at 13, and by 19 went into rehab after his mother and friends intervened.

Monteith had been on the musical comedy show since it began in 2009. In 2011, he won a Teen Choice award for top actor in a comedy. The show's cast won a Screen Actors Guild award for an ensemble in a comedy the prior year.

Cory Monteith Cause of Death HEROIN AND ALCOHOL

Cory Monteith died from a lethal combination of heroin and alcohol ... this according to Canadian authorities. The British Columbia Coroners Service says an autopsy and toxicological analysis show that the 31-year-old "Glee" star died on from a "mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol."

Monteith's body was discovered by staffers at the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel in Vancouver, Canada on July 13. Monteith had struggled with addiction for years and had been to rehab earlier this year. Monteith had said he began struggling with drugs and alcohol as a young teenager.

"Adam Levine and his girlfriend Behati Prinsloo are excited to announce they are engaged to be married," the rep says. "The couple recently reunited and Adam proposed this weekend in Los Angeles."

The Namibian model and the Maroon 5 frontman (who also appeared on American Horror Story) began dating last year, shortly after Levine split from another well-known model, Anne Vyalitsyna.
