I have never seen this movie BUT this is one of me and my sister's my greatest fear! I was maybe 7 or 8 and my parents leave my sister and I home alone and we watched a tv show about horror movies & SF and they shown this exact scene. The complete scene! We hide under the coffee table and we used pillows and covers to block all the access because we were so scared of what we saw on tv. We stayed under the table during about 1 hour till my mom and dad came back home. My first big fear because of a movie, the second one was saw chain massacre 2 movies I want to see I think she makes them watch a porn movie at 1.39... Best baby sitter ever! Quote
katchitup Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Anybody got any good horror/thriller reccomendations? The types of films I like: Oculus, The Shining, The Babadook, Trick r' Treat, 30 Days of Night, 28 Weeks/days later, The Witch, The Cabin in The Woods. So you could say I like those types of movies that are scary but also have a good narrative/character ark. Quote

Yeah Texas Chainsaw Massacre is very creepy. Halloween creeped me out and scared me because that could scenario could totally happen. I love this film! The remake of the Fly & Alien are awesome sci fi horror films. Quote

That's a great one and yeah, I would definitely give the 80s the win in the werewolf transformation area . Now that I've experienced it first hand, the stalker movies really scare me a lot . As for entertainment, I prefer the monsters/slashers ect. . Quote
SympathysSilhouette Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 I love the genre too. I mostly tend to gravitate towards stuff that is based more on atmosphere, like "The Innocents" (or more recently: "The Others", "Haunter") or stuff that is more funny like Romero's Night of the Living Dead series (minus the original which was meant to be interpreted 100% seriously) and Sam Raimi's Evil Dead series. Then there is the stuff I grew up with, like the Friday the 13th series. Basically the entire 1980s horror revival: My Bloody Valentine, Sorority Row, The Thing, ... Then there is the old Hammer Horror. And more British horror films. Like the so-called Sadian trilogy. One of which (Powell's "Peeping Tom") had a great influence on Brian De Palma. Quote
Stromboli1 Posted May 18, 2016 Author Posted May 18, 2016 I forgot to do my write up of the Friday the 13th movies and since I can't sleep, here we go... Friday the 13th Movie Rankings: Friday the 13th - I like this one the best. It does a very good job of not showing the killer/monster till the end of the movie. The score is iconic too. Kevin Bacon too. Friday the 13th Part 4 - I liked that this was supposed to be the culmination of the movies and end the series. Crispin Glover & Corey Feldman are in this one. Friday the 13th Part 3 - Just a really fun movie and where Jason gets his iconic hockey mask. The disco theme is hilarious too. Friday the 13th Part 2 - A decent follow up to the original, but not better than 3 or 4. It has the funny wheelchair death though. Friday the 13 Part 6 - This movie still follows the Tommy Jarvis storyline. This movie really stepped up the cheese factor and outlandish kills, like this one. Jason X - I really liked the sci fi horror aspect in this movie. If you liked the Andromeda show this movie had Lexa Doig & Lisa Ryder in it, but with their roles reversed. Also David Cronenberg made a cameo appearance. Friday the 13th Remake - This movie is an amalgam of the first 4 Friday the 13th films and liked what they tried to do with the film. Friday the 13th Part 7 - Cheesy film and a girl with telekinesis takes on Jason. Also Bernie (Terry Kiser) from Weekend at Bernie's is in the film. The sleeping bag death scene. Friday the 13th Part 8 - Cheesy as fuck and they go to NY. Kelly Hu is in the movie. Friday the 13th Part 9 (JGTH) - Just a terrible movie and Freddy is teased at the end. Freddy vs Jason - Terrible movie. At least the movie had some humor. Friday the 13th Part 5 - The worst movie of the series imo. It follows the Tommy Jarvis story. NO JASON! Terrible white trash ruin the film for me a la Rob Zombie's Halloween movies. Miguel Nuñez is in this film. Quote
Stromboli1 Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 John Carpenter has signed on as a creative consultant & executive produce a new Halloween (10th film). Michael is Coming Home! Blumhouse is Co-Producing the New HALLOWEEN — With John Carpenter Onboard! Gregory Burkart @G9Burkart May 23, 2016 Just like its unstoppable villain Michael Myers, it seems the HALLOWEEN film franchise — which launched in 1978 with John Carpenter’s original classic and spawned seven sequels as well as a remake with its own sequel — was destined to come back to life again. We’re thrilled to announce that Michael has found a new home at last — thanks to the efforts of Blumhouse founder/CEO Jason Blum, HALLOWEEN franchise producer Malek Akkad, Miramax and Trancas International Films, who have just announced a team-up of historic proportions to bring a new HALLOWEEN to the big screen. But hang on for the best part… Tonight’s press gathering included a surprise appearance by none other than the father of HALLOWEEN himself, John Carpenter, who took the stage to confirm that he’s officially signed onto the new film as Executive Producer and Creative Consultant (Blum describes him as “Godfather” of the project), which bodes very well that the film will bring the franchise back in line with his original vision. “HALLOWEEN needs to return to its traditions,” Carpenter said. “I feel like the movies have gotten away from that… Michael is not just a human being; he’s a force of nature, like the wind. That’s what makes him so scary.” “HALLOWEEN is one of those milestone films that inspired everyone at our company to get into the world of scary movies,” Blum said, “and we are so excited that Miramax brought us together. We cannot wait to find and collaborate with the right filmmaker to give Halloween fans the movie they deserve.” While details are still limited at this early stage, Blum did reveal that the film would be produced on a modest budget… and Carpenter says that’s the way it should be. “We made the original HALLOWEEN for very little money,” he added. “At heart it’s just a good, scary story, and that’s why it works. 38 years later, I’m going to help to try to make the tenth sequel the scariest of them all.” But we’re still not done… did we mention that Carpenter may also be composing the film’s music? Negotiations are still in progress on that, so we can’t say it’s a done deal… but it looks very promising. Carpenter has already been enjoying a major career renaissance with the cult success of his two LOST THEMES albums, which in turn sparked his first-ever tour of live performances with a full band, including his son and fellow composer Cody Carpenter (who would definitely be contributing to HALLOWEEN’s music, if the deal works out). So it looks like the stars have aligned perfectly for this project. [Note: Carpenter recently re-recorded the HALLOWEEN theme for a new EP slated for June 17 release, along with new versions of the ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, THE FOG and ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 themes.] We’re still in the early stages of pre-production right now, but you can be sure that script, cast and crew announcements will be forthcoming, and you’ll be able to get all the news right here. Let’s do this! http://www.blumhouse.com/2016/05/23/michael-is-coming-home-blumhouse-is-co-producing-the-new-halloween-with-john-carpenter-onboard/ Quote
