Roma are set to bid for Real Madrid fullback Cicinho.

The Brazil international has been a long-term target for Roma and now, flush with funds from Cristian Chivu's sale to Inter Milan, will make an offer for the right-back.

Real's Italian agent, Enzo Bronzetti, told Il Romanista today that he expects the Giallorosso to soon make a bid for Cicinho.

Cicinho to AS

"I'll even play as goalkeeper if Schuster asks me to"

Cicinho has made it clear that he wants to do whatever it takes to help the team, and he is willing to play no matter where Schuster positions him. In an interview with sports daily AS, the Brazilian pointed out that he would love to win a plethora of titles, saying, "What I saw at Cibeles with the League title was incredible and I would like to repeat that experience."

What was your meeting like with Schuster a couple of days ago following the statements you made?

The coach told me that the only reason he played me on the left was because he didn't have any other player for the position. I also let him know that I will play wherever he needs me to play. I just won't perform as well on the left or playing as a right forward. It's only fair that he knows that. Capello played me on the left side for 20 minutes against Sevilla.

Would playing in a more advanced position bother you?

Not at all, but the reality of it is that I won't perform as well. Madrid signed me for how I had been playing as a right-back, but if the coach asks me to play as goalkeeper, I'll do it. I know I am part of a team.

Do you see yourself warming the bench?

It's not like playing is a live or die situation. I want to fight for a spot, as long as it's on the right. That's where I am strongest. The competition will be good for Madrid.

Did your statements bug the squad?

No one told me anything.

Madrid are back on the offensive for Kaká.

We want him to come and I know that Kaká wants to be in Madrid. All Milan have to do is let him walk. It's been a while since we have spoken. If he doesn't come this season, he'll just come another.

Is he worth €100 million?

Yes. He, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho... They are all worth it. When you have the money, you have to do stuff with it. Madrid should lay it all out for Kaká. The only problem in getting him is that he is very grateful to Milan.

Of course! Real Madrid is a lot of Real Madrid!

That's right. And people say I want to leave. They're crazy!

Do you have an offer to sign for Roma?

It looks like it. I have a great friend there, the keeper Doni. When we speak he sometimes hands the phone over to Totti. He asked me how I was and I told him I am happy. That said, if Madrid don't need me, there wouldn't be a problem if I left.

Would you leave?

I spoke to my wife about the possibility and in a very serious tone she replied, "You'll be going alone" (Laughs). She likes it here.

How did Robinho look to you during the Copa América?

He's in the best form of his life. He played great during the last four Madrid matches when we were making those huge turnarounds. He was able to maintain that rhythm with the national team. I was surprised that he scored so many goals. He has worked hard to improve.

What differences are there between Schuster and Capello?

Schuster constantly talks about the ball and chats a lot with us. We are very happy with him.

You already know what winning a title is like. What's the next goal?

Winning them all in one season. What I saw at Cibeles with the League title was incredible and I would like to repeat that experience. We have already told the newcomers what it was like and they are already going crazy about winning another.

Totti: Real Madrid's Cicinho in my Roma Dream XI

tribalfooball.com - August 01, 2007

Roma captain Francesco Totti has again declared he wants Real Madrid fullback Cicinho to join him in Trigoria this season.

"Before his injury he was a major player," said Totti. "A young player, promising, with a great future."

Totti also revealed his dream Roma XI:

"The Roma of my dreams is this: Gigi Buffon [Juventus] in goal, wing-backs Cicinho [Real Madrid] and Roberto Carlos [Fenerbahce], central defenders Alessandro Nesta [AC Milan] and Philippe Mexes, Daniele De Rossi and Frank Lampard [Chelsea] in central midfield, Lionel Messi [barcelona], Totti and Ronaldinho [barcelona] in attack and Ronaldo [AC Milan] as our centre-forward."

Gago & Cicinho to Realmadrid.com

"Our priority is to win every title this season"

Fernando Gago rejoined the squad yesterday, while Cicinho has been training with the team for two weeks and has completely adapted to the training routine. They both share the same ambition for the forthcoming season.

Gago

"I'm quite relaxed and happy for coming back to work. I just got back so I can't really comment on the work Schuster is doing, but I am aware that he wants the team to attack and to keep ball possession as much as possible."

"Real Madrid's priority is to win every title. I am ambitious and I want to win everything."

Cicinho

"We've been working hard these past couple of weeks and the team is gradually looking better. We will try to win the game tomorrow. We are not too worried about our first defeat. The coach told us this was normal because Hannover 96 had been working much longer than us. It is still too soon to draw any conclusions, but we have to improve."

"We are a great team and all the men are very anxious to play. We will be in optimum form by the start of the League."

"I only think about doing a good job. It would be great to face Milan next season, but I'd rather avoid playing against Kaká because he is a brilliant player."

"We will try to win at all costs or at least to play very well, bearing in mind that we are still in the preseason."

Emerson And Cicinho Will Go To Italy, Agent Claims

Emerson will sign for Inter and Cicinho will join AS Roma according to an Italian football agent who believes he has the inside on events at Real Madrid this summer.

Ernesto Bronzetti has outlined his predictions for the future and thinks that all the recent speculation over the two players will come true.

Despite both Emerson and Cicinho stating that they are willing to battle for a place in the Madrid team, Bronzetti thinks they are set to leave.

"The latest information I have is that Emerson will go to Inter," he told Radio Radio TV.

"(Patrick) Vieira is often injured and Inter is one of the few clubs that can afford to sign him.

"I do not like to raise the hopes of Roma fans, but we will know more soon," he said about Cicinho.

"If Real Madrid decide to sell him or loan him then Cicinho has decided his future lies with Roma."

The pair may have differing receptions if they are to leave for the clubs that Brzonetti predicts as Macro Materazzi has said Emerson will not be welcome at Inter, while Cicinho has been told to join Roma by his friends in their squad.

One problem that the Brazilian may have to overcome is persuading his wife to move as it was reported recently that she said if he went to Italy it would be on his own.

Liverpool To Intercept Roma's Move For Cicinho?

Goal.com

Liverpool are set to challenge Roma with a bid for Real Madrid's Cicinho as Rafa Benítez looks to continue strengthening his squad before the season starts.

The Brazilian has been strongly linked with a move to the Italian capital, but has stated that he would rather remain at the Bernabéu and fight for a place.

Benítez is hopeful, however, that the personal terms on offer at Anfield, said to be around €3m-per-season, could tempt the player to move to the Reds.

Roma have made their interest known and a number of their players, including captain Francesco Totti, has talked to Cicinho about joining them, but the club would be unable to compete financially with Liverpool.

Madrid have, so far, not received a concrete offer but appear unwilling to allow the 27-year-old to go out on loan and will only let him leave at a price.

With the Premiership starting this weekend, Liverpool are still keen to add another piece to their jigsaw and see the former São Paulo star as the man to give them more options down the right.

Benítez is reported to have made contact with Madrid as he continues to pursue a new right-sided player after pulling out of the race to prise Daniel Alves away from Sevilla earlier in the summer.

Cicinho can play on either side at full-back or in midfield, although his favoured position is right-back, and it is that versatility that is attracting Benítez to make an offer of around €10m.

During pre-season, the Brazilian has not had much chance to impress and it is believed that Bernd Schuster sees Sergio Ramos and Michel Salgado as his two right-backs.

After being linked to Roma, Cicinho admitted that his wife was settled in Madrid and that she would take some persuading to move to Italy.

Liverpool would have to overcome that barrier too if they want to persuade him to uproot and move to Merseyside.

Roma told to up bid for Real Madrid's Cicinho

tribalfooball.com - August 15, 2007

Roma must up their bid for Real Madrid fullback Cicinho.

The Giallorossi are ready to offer Cicinho a three-year contract worth £1.5m a season, but their last £5 million offer falls short of Real's valuation.

The Madrid giants want £8 million for the Brazil international.
