SympathysSilhouette Posted February 11, 2007 Posted February 11, 2007 Apt Pupil (Ian McKellen's US breakthrough role), Shawshank and the Green Mile. Are you sure there's a movie out there based on The Stand? I never seen anything like that, and according to IMDB, there's only ever been a mini-series based on that book, not a movie. Quote

Chaky Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 What's all this Shinning business? Wasn't that on an episode of The Simpsons? It's called The Shining and it's definitely the best one. Stephen King didn't approve of it of course which is why he was involved in a crappy TV movie version. In fact the best Stephen King adaptations are the ones where King himself is not involved. Most of the productions he has a hand in are rubbish.Shawshank was voted the favourite movie of all time by readers of Empire magazine in the UK a couple of years ago. Quote
Emma_Frost Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 The Shawshank Redemption is my favourite by far! Quote
littledesaster Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 What's all this Shinning business? Wasn't that on an episode of The Simpsons? It's called The Shining and it's definitely the best one. Yes In fact the best Stephen King adaptations are the ones where King himself is not involved. Most of the productions he has a hand in are rubbish. Yes again. I really loved his books - before I got into Clive Barker stuff - and I was shocked when I saw IT for the first time. For me King only works if my own phantasy is allowed to create the visual horror in my mind's eye. King's idea of visual horror is not working. Usually movies based on books suffer by somehow stealing my imagination. Some are of course great movies but still different to the original books. Quote
penny-dreaddfull Posted January 8, 2008 Posted January 8, 2008 shawshankmiserydelores claibornestand by meapt pupilhavent seen 'the mist' yet, but the ads are just as i imagined when i read the book at 13, so i have high hopes for itfor the most part, the best S.K. movies come from the short story compilation 'different seasons'as was mentioned before... i also only like the movies that king had no hand in. Baby Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 carrie, because in the end, she dies... i just saw shinning and The Green Miles too. there is a movie about Dead Zone or this is the Tv Show ? i didn't know there was a movie about Running Man and Tommyknockers. i really need to see it. i learnt Stephen King will play in Sons Of Anarchy. i watched the first season because of my parents. they spend they time to buy DVD so... i watched it. but anyway, he will be really perfect for this TV show!!! he is an amazing man! i really really love him since i'm kid. i remember when i was 12 years old at school, we had an homework and our french teacher asked us to make a "biography" about our favorite famous personnality. all the pupiles chose people like singers, actors etc and i chose Stephen King. i was obsessed by his books. the teacher was so amazed. it was funny.
